A slightly more sociable starting time today as we headed with our guide, Sipohn from Chaing Mai to Chaing Rai via hotsprings, a fish farm...
the Asean 2 Highway, and the Chaing Rai White Temple.
And then on to Chaing Rai airport where we met the driver taking us to the Golden Temple to join the longtail boat taking us to our next destination: the Four Seasons Tented Camp, Golden Triangle.
A pretty spectacular place in the absolute middle of the jungle with not even a village in proximity- Views to left of Burma and right to Laos. We will be sleeping in a tent!
(Our tent)
(Our balcony + view of the Mekong river)
After lunch and a relax by the pool
It was time for sundowners at the Burma Bar
And then the 'Golden Triangle Menu' at the restaurant for dinner (meeting the local wildlife on route - tiger snake on path to dinner)
... and digestifs (and cigar for Angus) by the fire.
Now safely ensconsed under mosquito net listening to the cicadas. Elephants tomorrow!
